Listed as receiving 60 day furlough 1/22/65. 1850 Census list Ellsberry Langford age 7 living Dekalb Co in the household of Jesse Langford. In same household, Milmuth and James Thomas Langford. PR Applied 8/18/23 in Gwinnett Co. Living Stone Mountain, GA. A GA resident entire life since 2/43. Left command at Cedar Run, VA, given 60 day furlough 1/22/65. Started back to command, but heard of surrender on the way back. Never captured. Witness W.P. Brown stated that both he and Lanford had enlisted on the same day 5/1/62. Witness R.J. Jackson stated that both he and Lanford were present at the surrender.(an obvious error) Records include a copy of the 60 day furlough signed by Lt. W.A. Goza, Comdg. Co. It includes the following information: age 21, 5'10" high, fair complexion, eyes blue, hair hazel, a farmer when he enlisted, born Dekalb Co. Georgia, furlough from 22ed day Jan - 16th day March 65, at that time, return to camp of Evans Brigade near Petersburg, Va, or where it may then be. Widow applied Gwinnett Co. 2/19/28. Lanford died 2/3/28 in Gwinnett Co. At the time of application, she was 85 years old. E.C. Lanford married Miss. Mary C. Mason 2/10/78. Elsberry C. Lanford 2/12/43 - 2/3/28 & Wife Mary C. Mason 1842 - 1931 both buried Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
