Green James I., Pvt., Enlisted 8/17/62, Jacksboro, TN, Substitute for Andrew C. Jackson of Gwinnett Co., Court Marshall due to being AWOL. PR Applied Gwinnett Co. 9/2/19. Age 73, a resident of GA since birth. Applicant stated that he left the command at Staunton, VA 10/64. He had been wounded at Cedar Creek 10/19/64, and was furloughed home on account of wounds. Green was shot through the left thigh, and was at home at the time of the surrender not able for service. Witness J.W. Leopard stated that He was present when Green enlisted at Jacksboro, TN, and with him until he was wounded at Cedar Creek. Green left with a furlough by order of Lt. Goza, and the furlough was extended, and he was still disable when the witness got home after the war. J.I. Green lived in Lawrenceville in 1919. He died in Gwinnett Co. 10/26/24. Widow applied Gwinnett Co. 12/27/24 for pension due deceased soldier. J.I. Green married Julia A. Atkinson 1/1/70 in Gwinnett Co. Witness to marriage was W.E. Green. A letter from G.G. Robinson, an official of the county refers to Mrs. Green's 2 sons.
