Served October 1861 - May 1862. Most of the men enlisted in the 9^th Regiment Georgia Light Artillery - Company D
10^th Regiment Georgia Militia - Company H (1861)
Mustered out May 1862. Most of the men enlisted in 36^th.
Cobb's Legion Cavalry (9^th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Cavalry) - Company E
"Roswell ..." recruited in Lawrenceville ... May, 1862.
16^th Battalion Georgia Volunteer Cavalry - Company D, I, K (later 13^th Regiment Georgia Cavalry)
... added several companies including I and K and redesignated the 13^th Regiment Georgia Cavalry in May 1864.
9^th Regiment Georgia Light Artillery - Company D
Formed in Lawrenceville by Tyler Macon Peeples May 1862.
12^th Regiment Georgia Light Artillery - Company C (3rd)
(also as 12^th Battalion Georgia Infantry)
Formed in Stone Mountain and trained in Augusta in May 1862. The unit never had artillery and served primarily as coastal defense.

Formed at Camp Abington near Memphis, TN of 128 men from Gwinnett, Walton, and Jackson counties who gathered at Midway Methodist Church and mustered in up there. The 38^th also included several Alabama companies.
